In the second half of the 19th century , social Darwinism and racist ideas already had a large place in Latin America. There, the countries were almost all faced with the dilemma of what to do in terms of the formation of their respective ethnic nation,mobile phone number list because within their national territory two or more «races» coexisted. Most of these countries had a more or less large native population, a group inherited from the European colonizers, some groups of immigrants and, in many cases, a more or less strong presence of a population of African origin.
Faced with this dilemma, the Mexican elites devised and managed to implement a very particular solution: that the incarnation of the ideal characteristics of nationality would be the mestizo population, the product of only two bloodlines and cultures, mobile phone number list the indigenous and the Spanish. But not only that, but, against what the racism of social Darwinism maintained, Mexico claimed that it would become a viable, civilized nation with a future precisely because it had decided to be founded on these mixed bloods and cultures.
